I've had the same experience.
And I agree that we probably unleashed it before it was ready.
The only silver lining is that with billions of lab rats, we have a huge amount of data to learn from and make corrections.

Also, if it's as bad as they want it to be, the modern world will end rather quickly so I may want to die first in modern luxury, anyway.
