I scored about 100 lbs. of lead when the Sewerage and Water Board did some work in my area. They were tearing out and replacing lead water supply lines going to people's houses.
They'd remove them and just toss them aside and at the end of the day I collected them to use for making sinkers. I do 2,3 and 4 oz. sinkers for fishing the Mississippi River.

Steel and zinc wheel weights are common now.
