The reality is playoff appearances help the HC & FO keep their jobs. Sure, they want to win SBs every year, but they also need to make the playoffs to keep their jobs. Historically, HCs have a 3 year window at any point. Miss the playoffs year 1 (check), reorganize your coaching staff (done) and find a "new QB" to roll with (Carr) if you don't already have an established guy. 2nd time you miss, the HC is officially on notice and this is when they get desperate with rookie QBs, 3 years in a row, HC is gone and now the pressure is on the FO.

This is speculation, but I always thought Payton was Loomis' savior. Loomis sort of inherited Haslett (he was int he FO, but wasn't GM when Haslett was hired), but Payton was his decision. Now that Payton is gone, Allen is his first major decision. Allen fails, he would traditionally get another shot before the FO is gutted. I saw traditionally, because I think he gets at least 2 more HC hires.

TL/DR: IMO, Allen has 2 more years. We're probably stuck with Loomis for 2 more HCs after Allen, unless the next hire hits a homerun
