Flying in the day before Easter and spending one night in MSP. Any recommendations on best areas to stay? Also interesting things to do, places to eat etc. Thanks

The downtown business district (near the Marriott City Center) used to have a strip of bars with 2nd story croquet courts, etc. It was a great place to "afternoon" after work in the later spring.

I was there a decade or so ago for a week or two, and even then, you'd see excessive vagrancy (not like LA or SF today), such as homeless people sleeping inside a Target, or in the indoor mall, etc., in the middle of the day. I took the train to the Marriott during the day from the airport, and there were a *whole lot* of people sort of milling around a few streets over that would have loved my laptop.

We stayed at the Hewing hotel in the Warehouse district last year. Great rooms, view from the rooftop, and felt very safe.
The bartender at dinner and drinks at the Monte Carlo was excellent. It was a short walk from the hotel, and food was great also.

Most hotels are in downtown MPLS, which is fine, but its been a ghost town since COVID / riots. Otherwise, North Loop might be your best option - someone mentioned Hewing, but you can also do TownPlace or Element. North Loop is a fantastic neighborhood - a lot of bars, restaurants and breweries. Younger crowd, but still good for most ages, anyway.

If staying in North Loop, would absolutely try getting a table at Spoon & Stable for dinner. For breakfast, grab a bagel sandwich at Rise and coffee at Blackstory or FRGMNT. Hit Black Sheep at lunch for coal-fired pizza. Breweries in the immediate area are Modist, Fulton and Inbound. Freehouse is a brewpub, but other three are better. Parlour is a fantastic cocktail bar w/ a really good burger, too.

Looks like Twins have a home game that weekend. Sounds like you're busy on Easter, but it's an easy ticket to get for Saturday. Target Field is right in North Loop.

Anywhere in close proximity to the George Floyd memorial should be good.
