If you were wondering why we didn't play Phillips as much until the end of the year, here's your sign. Even top hs freshman big men get limited minutes. He would be considered "elite" out of high school, being the 3rd ranked C in the country.

Oh, I understand that a lot. This kid would probably get 25 min per game minimum if he returned to Oregon. But getting 16.8 ppg on only 15.8 mpg? We could use that next year. He could even play with Phillips if he has any defensive issues.

Oregon had two older 5 stars at his position, N'Faly Dante and Nathan Bittle. The bag Oregon gave Ware might've hurt him in the long run.

Just to follow up on your point, Johan Traore, the 5 star recruit under Wade, got limited minutes and is entering the portal from Auburn.

And ftr, I wouldn't trade Phillips for any center in the portal right now. If he is a solid return I would involve him in any decision to take a new center. He really impressed me with his footwork on defense late in the season and soft touch.
