Crews is outstanding, but I don't feel he has surpassed Todd Walker yet. He could with a great year (and he sure is on the way).
These are numbers Dylan needs to equal Todd's career offensive numbers (I will give Dylan the edge defensively, though Todd had MLB career Fielding % .981):
ABS - 227 (not likely), Hits - 108 (very unlikely), Runs - 69 (will pass at current pace), 2B - 28 (very unlikely), 3B - 9 (very unlikely), HR - 7 (basically a lock), RBI - 109 (very unlikely), TB 175 (unlikely), BB - 41 (likely at current pace), SO - Dylan already has 18 more.

Dylan's problem is that he is getting walked so much. Add in the 27 innings "stolen" from LSU hitters so far.

Todd had career BA .396, Dylan at .370, slugging % Todd .711, Dylan at .700, (NB: OBP Dylan .478, could not find Todd's career number; so also can't compare career OPS, but Dylan's is mind-boggling this year at 1.570)

Love 'em both and hope Dylan crushes it the rest of the year.

The pitching around college baseball and, more specifically, the SEC was no where close to the same talent level in 1992-1994 as it is from 2021-2023.

18 year olds with great arms almost never made it to college in 1992. Todd Walker went through many SEC three game series only seeing one or two arms that even topped 90 mph.

No. The problem is that Dylan plays in the dead bat/ball era vs pitchers who would never have sniffed college in 1991. The batting totals that were being put up in the 90s were stupid. -5 bats, the OG reflex (adding about 10pm ball speed), the best pitchers topping out at 91-93… Sanford had 4 guys hit 94.

What you have to try and do is compare him vs other players who are currently in college or have been since 2015. No one hits it harder more often and maybe never has in the college game. His ball speed when he makes contact is unreal. He’s a true 5 tool players who could probably play any position well if you asked him to. And he can do it vs guys throwing 95-98 consistently. He’s the best position player in the country and it’s not even close.
