But if it helps fat people lose weight that has so many benefits on our entire healthcare system.
But if it doesn't help them learn how to be healthy they'll likely rebound once they stop taking it, negating those benefits.

Definitely for some, although i wouldnt put that as a blanket statement for all.

For others, the increase in energy and overall health and well being may be the trigger they need to start living a cleaner life.

My relative is an example of someone who probably needs it. She’s eating herself into a grave and the more she gains, the worse she’s getting with every imaginable disease and ailment. She’s completely discouraged and losing about 50 lbs would allow her the ability to move around more and likely be encouraged to continue her progress. But there is a severe psychological issue going on for her to have allowed herself to gain 150+ lbs in a decade, most of which has been the last 4-5 years. THAT has to be addressed or it’s all for nothing. I would like to see her simply get some weight off so that she has a chance to address the real systemic psych issues. I think she’s down a serious dark hole and sees no way out right now.

THAT is who this medicine should be reserved for (if for weight loss and not diabetics).

Well, these types of discussions are usually based on generalities

Agree. I think it can be absolutely beneficial if part of a multi-pronged approach to weight loss with an emphasis on instilling new habits and attitudes toward healthy lifestyle choices.

The cynic in me thinks most people are just taking the shot and calling it a day though.
