The differing heights makes it tricky. I'll have to cut the laminate to make a wider gap between the two floors and then get the T to be thicker on one side than the other. I think you're right tho, that may be the best way to go.

Maybe a T molding reducer?

We used one similar to this shape. The way they installed it was to leave an appropriate expansion gap, liquid nail a thin strip of wood between the tile and (in our case) vinyl LVT plank, then tack this piece to the wood strip. It hasn’t budged in years.

Meeple has the correct answer. If they don’t have one that works with your height differences, you can make your own with a piece of oak and a table saw.
