I used to like their mall when it was connected to Walmart where I can just inside of it. As a kid in the 90s, I thought that was the coolest thing at the time lol

Going to Dinner Bell in McComb seemed like I was living the fanciest life possible when I was young.

Also thought the Delmont and Cortana Piccadilly were classy as frick

All of those areas will be completely unrecognizable in 5-10 years.

My grandparents used to take me there and we'd go by some smokehouse to buy sausage in the 80s. Surely it still exists. Maybe I'll torture my teenager and make her ride 3 hrs for lunch and sausage.

Even sooner

Hell, Juban is beginning to look like Perkins Row on weekends.

When in doubt, always follow the money. More residents equate to more tax revenue.

quote:

The simple solution to at least minimize this downward trend is to say that the minimum for ALL new developments is a 1/3 acre lot and 1800 square foot home,

It's all about location with regard to land value. The land cost at the location you are referring to is way, way too high to double the size of the lot to achieve 1/3 acre requirement.

Truth. Trying to figure out how long to hold onto my Mandeville property for max value and appreciation.

I see the future for these areas and I don't like it.

My peepaw had a couple hundred acres up there so we’d go hunting or fishing and clean whatever we killed/caught, wash up, and hit the dinner bell up for lunch.

Later we would fry up whatever we had caught/killed earlier when the rest of the family showed up.

I truly miss those days

it true that some developer is going to build a massive high density neighborhood off of Shoe Creek/Morgan Place and then the city is going to extend Wax to connect to it?

That was nixed. I live in the neighborhood across from Wal-Mart and we were all really worried about that happening.

They want whatever kind of government that makes them in control, small or big. Principles have been abandoned for quite some time now.

It’s feds pushing for govt to pay for people to move to this places who haven’t earned it.

Regardless pretty sure central and Walker local govts are still fairly small. Limiting high density apartments that end up being section 8 will keep them small.

We can go Wild West and full libertarian at the local govt level but don’t complain when certain criminals are taken out.

I'm sure we've discussed this before but I'm absolutely a descendant of rednecks. My grandparents had 38 acres about a mile or two north of Cotherns Tire on Blackwater. I essentially grew up there.

You live in one of those houses that are really close together? How is it right there? The homes look big and nice but it’s like you can’t breath.

Know them very well. Their moms house behind the tire shop was our refuge in the 2016 flood.

There used to be a grocery store nextdoor to that tire shop that the family owned. I don't think you'd remember it because it burned down in like the mid 80s. My maw maw used to let me down chocolate soldiers in there. It had a big Sunbeam Bread logo on the front like this
