Stop acting like La Tech can't afford to make the 4 hour bus ride back to Oxford or that Ole Miss and La Tech don't have a Tuesday or Wednesday free over the next month to finish the game.

Yeah, that's not how the rules work. It wasn't suspended. If the same thing had happened in an MLB game they wouldn't have finished it later since it was considered official after 5 innings.

You can blame Ole Miss all you want for gaming the rules, but don't blame the rules.

Well yeah, because Ole Miss refused to suspend it.

The rule was handled correctly, never said it wasn't. But if you can't see the blind spot of the rule, I don't know what to tell you.

A regulation game is 7 completed innings, a completed game can be had after 4.5 innings if suspended prior to 7 complete innings and the coaches cannot agree to the game being halted and to be continued. Watching the LTU coaches interview it would appear Ole Miss; (1) did not put the tarp out which shows no intent to continue, (2) did not accept LTU's attempt to complete the game at a later date on LTU's dime, (3) did not move the game up outside the weather window when LTU presented the option. Ole Miss did nothing wrong by the letter. It's just not a good look for a coach/institution that over the last few years has shown they'll play in any grey area they can. They did nothing 'wrong', but also did everything the wrong way.
