Central AC Outdoor Unit Issue

Hopefully someone can provide a quick fix on this. For the past week, the outdoor unit for my central AC stops working. Temperature rises in house. If I simply turn off the thermostat, then wait five minutes and turn it back on, then all starts working fine. Anything obvious for me to check/replace?

Nothing at all until powering off for a few minutes. Which works eveyr time without fail to get it going again. thanks

Fuse starting fail, besides the capacitor?

Sounds like it’s stopping on low pressure or high pressure lockout. When you turn off the power it resets it. Call out a tech before you burn up your compressor.
N/m I read like you turned off the breaker to reset it

How long does the unit run, after turning off the thermostat and waiting 5 min, before the problem re-occurs? Multiple times per day?

If there is a fused-disconnect at the unit and the fuse is tripped there would be no power at all. Likely something else as others have suggested.

Circling back to this. Had it repaired this morning. It was the contactor, which the mechanism was literally falling apart.

Thanks for the update - I was thinking more along the lines of a contactor issue than a capacitor b/c when capacitors fail the unit won’t run at all. Contractor issues, loose wires connected to the contactor, anything that causes the contactor to overheat, can result in the symptoms you were experiencing.
