Kentucky bourbon trail tent camping trip

Hi all, husband would like to do a camping/bourbon trail trip and we’re wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where to stay to tent camp? Also how’s the weather in early May?

Parks.ky.gov for state parks. Most are very nice with lodging and camp sited.
Weather in Kentucky in May generally pretty good, warming temps, but also severe weather events can happen. Can still be pretty cool when the sun goes down.
