Played almost exclusively whites in 2021 and almost all golds(up) in 2022, and I was 3 shots lower per 18 holes one tee up on the same course.
It helps, but it’s not going to make you 18 shots better per round.
A great player could go really low some days moving up, but 8-12 index will not shoot in the 60s one tee up.

Length is not my issue. Many holes I have to use a 3W to dial it back and stay out of trouble.
I've played from the tips on my home course and the landing areas on the fairway seem to open up. It's almost more natural to play that way.
