re: Potatoes in chili?

One of the ways to lower the heat or salt in a recipe is to add potatoes to absorb some of the offending characteristic. I've never added potatoes to chili, although I have served chili over a baked potato. Topped with cheese, green onions or diced onions. Very quick and tasty meal, and a way to finish up chili when you don't have enough leftovers for another meal and don't have or want hotdogs.
