I'm curious how it will end though. When there can always be another variant, how do you finally, ultimately, defeat "the" Kang? How do you film that?

Its why this is less powerful than Thanos to me. You knew the one, true Thanos. It feels like the nature of Kang is always ripe for a cop out - "the REALLY bad variant didn't die, though!"

True. I think the only real way to defeat "all" Kangs is for the most powerful one to defeat the rest. Similar to what was going on in Loki.

I went into the movie hoping Marvel was going to turn it around for me but I was pretty letdown, unfortunately:

- I seem to have the same issues with Cassie's motivations as others in this thread, so I'll keep this one short. Better writing could've turned this into a good story, like using the angle of trying to get back lost time that Scott missed with his daughter during jail and then the blip. Instead, we get Cassie, who is angry at her dad for not doing anything outside of writing a book after he helped save the entire universe. I know it's a comic book movie and you can't take these things seriously but that is such a joke it was hard to look past.

- This brings me to my next point. Scott, in his own movie, is once again taking a backseat because Janet won't give a single detail about her stay in a place for decades and then Cassie reads some notes in between stops in jail and figured out how to access the quantum realm. I guess it's just that easy to do now. Just incredibly lazy overall. Then when they're in the quantum realm the pacing and editing was all over the place, it was hard to really feel any momentum happening. Some nice ideas and a couple of entertaining new characters but to spend almost the entire movie in this setting, felt like they should have presented more.

- Kang wasn't a bad villain but if they're really banking on him to be the villain over the next phase or two, I'm not sure how successful they're going to be. I understand the Council of Kang and the real danger is his ability to come from various universes but I can't take a villain too seriously that gets defeated by Paul Rudd and some ants. I never personally felt like he was a large threat, they didn't quite hit the scale they were hoping to hit based on how they marketed the character.

- Outside of the GotG movie coming up, not a whole lot I'm looking forward to, I'll oddly throw in Loki because that's been my favorite D+ series even though I just complained about Kang. I'll go ahead and predict Marvel has their first actual flop within two years. Idk anyone fired up for The Marvels, which has been delayed five or six times now and I don't remember too many people liking Captain Marvel anyways. Then you follow that up with a new Captain America and we don't really know if people will show up to a new Cap and then the Thunderbolts, which doesn't move the needle.

I hope Gunn can get DC turned around soon.
