The summer before COVID I sold everything, moved out to Missouri for a job at Fort Leonard Wood. Figured this was a long term decision so we bought a house here. My wife has fibromyalgia and is unable to hold down a steady job because of it. I work for the federal government and when COVID happened and they developed the first round of vaccines they did the mandate thing. I held out for 10 months at which time they said they were going to start letting people go who didn't provide proof of vaccination. At the time my wife and I had also started fostering two young children, who we were made to believe we'd be able to adopt. Add to that, I live out in the sticks, aren't many cartographer or geospatial jobs in the private sector around here so I was kinds of stuck. So between just moving here, jut buying a house, wife unable to work, and had I lost my job we would have assuredly lost the kids, I felt pressured to take the jab. I did the J&J for the single dose and never took any boosters but regret taking the first shot, but don't regret making a sacrifice to ensure I could keep providing for my family.
