I have the same, work issued HP.
At the office we use dual displays connected to the HP dock linked by "broadhead". The dock is connected to the USB C port (right side of laptop)
At home I use a 27 inch external monitor connected directly to the laptop HDMI port and "extend" the desktop.
The j5 product you have needs a driver to work, if it will work at all and your IT dept may not allow the driver install, ymmv.
I've also considered how to run a two external monitor setup.
Not pulled the trigger on any equipment yet but this could work, $55.

I have something close to that.

Goes USB-C into my laptop. I have two HDMIs running from it to my two monitors. Took me a moment to get my settings setup properly. But now no issues.
