The amount of brands and different series to each brand of vinyl window available is a bit overwhelming. You can't window shop in person and see them first hand on many brands. I need to get just 4 36"x60" (3/0x5/0) windows and a 5'x6' picture window. I don't want the cheapest POS available and I also don't need top of the line. Anyone have a good recommendation to a quality window for the money? I don't need impact rated but I'd like low E with a dp50 wind rating for South Louisiana. Any help with some direction is greatly appreciated

We paid $1745 for five 36” x 60” Jeld Wen vinyl windows with insulated glass in July. I think they are durable and affordable.

We had all of ours replaced with NT Window. Double pane, low E, double hung. Sliders and raisers. We like them.

You might like this story. A good friend of mine installs vinyl windows. His cousin ordered windows and put down a deposit with a window company, he could have saved her a bunch of money. So she ordered the windows that could be claimed on income tax. After installation my friend went by her house to see the finished product. The installed windows we not the one’s eligible for deductions. After telling the cousin. She then called the window company. They came out changed the tags on the windows, showing they were eligible. No changing of windows, just the tag.
As with anything, do your homework.
I had a tankless water heater installed at a friends house two weeks ago, because them being 98-99% efficiency, they are able to be claimed on your income taxes.

We installed Sierra Pacific premium vinyl windows on our new construction recently. Been very happy with them. High quality and they seem to be really efficient. They were middle of the road price-wise. Cheaper than Marvin/Kolbe/etc., but more expensive than builder grade vinyl.

We built in June. The builder used Elevate windows made in Dallas. They are energy efficient and attractive. They are NOT anywehere near Pella, Andersen or Marvin though. (I have had Andersen windows- They are in another class)

The neighbors are building and are using a window called Ply Gem. I don't know much about them. They also look about like ours. I assume they are also fairly inexpensive.

PlyGem is pretty cheap window.

Windsor and Jeld-Wen are both good mid to upper tier windows.

Went with Windsor on our build and am satisfied.

Window companies like to use the word "clad". From what I can tell, clad usually means that it's a wooden window, usually covered with vinyl. These windows have more "structure" and look much nicer than standard vinyl windows. But they're also more expensive. We had to use 2 clad windows on our build, and seems like they were about 30% more. Something to consider if looks in a particular area are more important to you.

Good luck.

I've read about Marvin, Windsor, Andersen a whole bunch more. Supposedly, there's only 4 actual glass manufacturers used for the window. Cardinal glass is supposed to be the best to go with. It looks like glass that is labeled "Low e366 or e270" is the Cardinal made glass. One is three coatings the other is two coatings.

After talking with a guy here locally who works on houses a good bit and has been around, he recommends Alside for the moneyand parts availability.

Wholesale Siding in Jefferson says they can't get the Alside as quickly these days but ViWintech is a comparable brand they have. Their quote came back very good for what I get in return. I've done some research and the carpenter friend who recommended the Alside said the ViWintech are good as well.

I think I'm going that route. I appreciate the feedback and help. I hope I was able to help in return somewhat

I sell Marvin and plygem. Plygem makes a nice vinyl window. Look at the 1500 series. Also if it’s a replacement make sure it gets installed the right way or DP doesn’t matter. Had impact Marvin windows blow in on grand isle because they only had 4 screws holding the windows in
