Good god why?

If you beat a good/great team, it helps your resume'. It's easy to say you're undefeated when you beat up on a bunch of weaker teams but when you get to a team that has equal talent, and is a conference foe and you beat them, it matters.

Again, this is just what I'd like, like the OP asked. I'd rather LSU not beat up on, say, Vanderbilt and go,"Look, another SEC win." And while it is exactly that, Vanderbilt does not equal Alabama. Just using Vanderbilt as an example. No disrespect to them.

Playing a strong schedule is even more important with the coming expanded playoff. Resume doesn't matter as much at that point. You could lose a game or even 2 and still get in. What matters more is being able to win it once you're in. The stronger the schedule, the better.
