Carr is better than Montana, Elway, Favre, Brees, Brady, P. Manning, and Mahomes combined.

Agree, but chances could be better drafting higher.

Yeah, Dalton is past his prime.

Really!?
Wow. Let me write that down. Good note.

I'd roll with Taysom. Get some salary off the books, hopefully a few good draft picks. If we don't make the playoffs next year, so be it. There will be alot of good QBs coming out of college next year. This team isn't going to buy and trade their way into winning. We salvaged the future a few years ago for Drew's last ride, there is going to have to be some pain to reset.

Again, not really. All you do is tie your franchise to a QB for four to five years. Below are first round QBs with top 10 picks in bold.
Kenny Pickett
Trevor Lawrence
Zach Wilson
Trey Lance
Justin Fields
Mac Jones
Joe Burrow
Tua Tagovailoa
Justin Herbert
Jordan Love
Kyler Murray
Daniel Jones
Dwayne Haskins
Baker Mayfield
Sam Darnold
Josh Allen
Josh Rosen
Lamar Jackson
Mitchell Trubisky
Patrick Mahomes
Deshaun Watson
Jared Goff
Carson Wentz
Paxton Lynch
Jameis Winston
Marcus Mariota
Blake Bortles
Johnny Manziel
Teddy Bridgewater
EJ Manuel
In that same time period, here are QBs drafted in the 2nd or later rounds:
Derek Carr
Jimmy Garoppolo
Jacoby Brissett
Dak Prescott
Gardner Minshew
Drew Lock
Jalen Hurts
Davis Mills
Brock Purdy
Bailey Zappe
And if you want to go back further, guys like Russell Wilson, Andy Dalton & Drew Brees weren’t taken in the first. And guys like Ben Rothlesburger were the 11th pick.
Unless you want to be the Bengals, Browns or Jets who tank for 20 years to get Burrow, you’re just as likely to find a great QB at 10 (Mahomes), 11 (Rothlesburger), 12 (Watson), 32 (Lamar) or in a later round (Dak, Carr, Hurts). It’s more important to have a good team than just a top five pick.

The greatest QB of any generation was picked in the 10th rd. Among the current top QBs, Mahomes was 10, Rodgers in the 20s, Hurts was in round 2. Of course you have your Burrows going 1st overall. Point is you can find your guy anywhere, look at Purdy. Build the team, build the team, build the team. Hire good coaches. If we get Carr, he’s a good QB, let’s build around him.

Only hope Loomis is better at negotiating a reduced Carr salary cap hit then throwing away valuable draft choices!

I'm good with that scenario also.

Mildly interesting…it’s not solely about a QB in the top 10–if that was the case, don’t we have one currently???
We had that—1 SB. Grateful but only one.
Green Bay has had like 30 consecutive years of HOF QB play with 2 SB wins
This team is not horrible, more middle—upper middle of the pack. Though you are what your record says you are, the Saints are better than 7 wins. There were at least 4 losses that were more a result of bad luck and injury than lack of talent and ability.
With all this said, the path forward will likely see the saints rebuilding this team from the defensive side, rather than with an elite QB and top tier offense.

I agree with bad luck and injuries...but you forgot bad coaching. Also, unless we make a playoff run this year, I would imagine we go with a different coach next year.

We had 15 years with a hall of fame QB and great coach to try and pile up rings.. we won one, screwed out of a chance at another, and gut-wrenchingly blew at least one more chance. The window is closed. The final nail was whiffing on Davenport and Turner
Man. From my brain to your keyboard. Agree with all that.

I don’t disagree on moving on from DA if this next season doesn’t result in making the playoffs—and 8-9 playoff of team isn’t the answer. Hopefully, regardless of who’s coaching, we will be in a better position with the cap to build a younger foundation.

Not happening
Eagles literally have a top 10 pick from the Saints this year.

My 2 cents regarding your take: Only losers cheer for their team to intentionally lose
Only morons would rather watch a mediocre team year after year rather than just bottom out and rebuild. Most smart people understand being in the middle every year is a terrible place to be.

What makes you think any QBs that will be in next year‘s are draft generational QBs? I don’t see any
Then you must not be paying attention. Caleb Williams is that next guy in the mold of Aaron Rodgers and Mahomes.

He wasn’t until he went to LSU and got a chance to prove it, will a Joe Burrow type emerge next season in college? No one knows but I do know the best rated QBs starting the year off in college football next season I would not consider them generational types. Better example would be Josh Allen not Burrow since Joe had probably the most prolific season ever as a starting qb in college history based on the level of competition and Josh came from a lesser school and blossomed in the pros.
I feel like you are just talking about shite that you actually know nothing about. Burrow wasn’t a big time recruit. Even after his season at LSU, there were questions about his arm strength and overall physical abilities. He might not have even gone number 1 if Tua was healthy.
Josh Allen was a project from a small school with poor accuracy, big arm, size and athleticism. How is he more comparable to Caleb Williams and Drake Maye? They aren’t small school projects. Those are the type of guys teams tank to draft.

Man some of y’all straight talking out ya asses. I believe in drafting qb’s every year until you hit on one. Yes it’s possible to hit on good qb after first round. But, statistically, the best qb’s are found in round 1.
It’s easy to cherry pick the good qb’s found in later rounds, but you aren’t naming all the misses cause it’s impossible. There are too many. Y’all take Brock Purdy, I’ll take Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Herbert, Lawrence, etc.

You don’t have to bottom out and bottoming out doesn’t work. This isn’t the NBA where one player can make you a contender for 15 years. Bad NFL teams are bad because they don’t try to win. Lions, Browns, Jets, Jaguars, etc. they stay bad because they are bad. Philly, Rams, Saints, San Fran, Green Bay, New England may have a bad year or two but always try to get better.

We aren't tanking so your 2 cents doesn't make sense.
