I’m nearing the point of wanting to completely kick my dipping habit, and this is a source of many good jokes. the nicotine isn’t even the addictive part anymore, it’s the literal oral fixation I can’t kick

I quit cold turkey in 2020. I remember wanting to rip the gums out of my mouth for the first month or so for this exact reason. It was tough but it was well worth it.

good on you, that’s encouraging. I’m already dreading that feeling after a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. I’m tapering off right now and will try to stick to a schedule in a couple weeks. a couple buddies of mine have tried that smokey mountain stuff and said they’d have rather gone cold turkey. I’ve even heard/read of some guys just using a wadded up paper towel for a few days. I’m one of the lucky ones in that I’ve been doing this for going on 15 years now and still haven’t had a cavity, but I can feel my gums receding and it freaks me the frick out
