re: Leander Perez- Stolen land claim in Plaquemine Parish

I read the book about Perez and quite frankly it’s unbelievable. He was a horrible human and his relatives should be exhiled from the state and stripped of all their ill gotten gains. The exchanges between Perez and Long were noteworthy. Tons of crooked elections, yes men in all facets of parish and state government, and openly racist and hostile behavior to residents. He ruled Plaquemines with an iron fist and the circumstances that allowed people like him and long to reign with little interference are some of what has always held the state back.
