Exactly my point....
Trump to his eternal credit identified the zeitgeist of what is important to the working man and middle class. He has been pretty consistent in his fundamental beliefs over the last 40 years. He is basically an economic national populist. He was never that engaged on the culture wars given he was a lifelong New Yorker other than as a hard law and order and peace through strength guy.
The Bush/Romney/McCain wing has gotten to far away from the base and they lost site of what is important. Trump seized on that and basically destroyed the old paradigm. I will forever have a debt of gratitude to him for doing that.
