The market wasn’t there for Sean Payton

The bidding war never existed…for whatever reason.
We got a good haul for a guy that wasn’t going to contribute to the Saints ever again in a limited market.
Glad to move on

Saints got little but they were gonna get nothing if it went longer. Sad end to the best era and Saints history.

BS. That is what SP and is media friends put out there to drive the price down so he could go to Denver. The market was definitely there.

I don't think that's accurate.

We weren't getting two 1sts. Dumb people think Gruden was the precedent and ignore the coaches traded since him that all went for less.

I assume there is going to be a reason why you think its inaccurate....

Mike Triplett broke down the Gruden-Bucs trade. Basically in was an impulse buy by the Bucs. Can’t do that anymore with the hiring/interview rules.

what deal has Mickey made as of late that gives him the benefit of the doubt on this?

I'm curious to see how much Payton gets on his deal.

If we weren’t giving back a 3rd I would agree with you. The fact that our 1st is 29th is also relevant.

We owned his rights through the 2024 season last I read, so if someone wanted to hire him next offseason we'd still be owed compensation.
I don't know why people think it was this year or nothing

A late first round pick and an early to mid second round pick (which is likely for Denver next season) comes out to 1100-1200 points in draft value. A mid third round pick is like 175-200 points. That's literally all the Saints gave up since Payton was not an asset that could be utilized on the field.

Someone using logic, I am pleasantly surprised.

It couldn't be a true bidding war because he basically had a no trade clause since he had to agree to take the job there. Also pretty clear now that the Broncos flirting with Harbaugh again was for leverage against Payton and the Saints.

STFU idiot. Go look at any Underhill/Tripp equivalent in Denver (not hard) and you'll see SP wasn't their top choice. This is a win for the Saints. "The market was definitely there" truly you are an idiot. Go yell at a wall.

It sounded like teams balked at the 20-25 mil.
Supposedly one team said they would only give him 20 mil after winning another superbowl.

Yeah, SP the Super Bowl-winning coach wasn't their first choice. You are a clown if you believe that. They didn't like the price, so they made Loomis panic and get FOMO and then bent us over the barrel and got their guy.
Also, who says "STFU idiot" on a message board? Are you 10?

When something is as retarded as what he posted, it calls for a fat STFU idiot. That's standard protocol, ya fricking idiot.
Everything you said here is what you've convinced yourself of so that you can continue being pissed off. None of this is fact or even rumored. Yeah man, the org that just gave up an insane amount of draft picks for Russell Wilson turned around and bent *us* over the barrel lolol. GFY
