quote:Not a Roman history expert by any stretch but how does Roman history record the beheading of John the Baptist and why, and how does Roman history record the passing back and forth of Pontius Pilot and Herod Antipas at Jesus' "trial"?
Does anyone who has studied the history actually believe that this purported census really took place, given that the Romans (absolutely NOTORIOUS record-keepers) have ZERO record of any such event? When the Romans NEVER held a census even remotely resembling the ridiculous intrusion described in Luke?

quote:Well, that did not happen in Roman territory, so there would have been no reason for the Romans to record anything about it. Josephus did mention it in Antiquities, but he was not maintaining a contemporaneous record ... but rather recording oral tradition of something purported to have happened more than sixty years earlier.

quote:It doesn't. But it DOES record Pilate's tenure as a real event.
