I think it’s because he would do what is fair, and a compromise. And the MIC and 3 letter agencies are not for that.
What did Russia want? Guarantee of a military alliance aimed at defeating Russia not being offered to a Russian border nation?
Kind of like the CIA would not have been a fan of Mexico entering the Warsaw pact. We saw what we did when Russia tried to build missile facilities in Cuba
If Putin was really the bad guy we make him out to be he wouldn’t accept, he just wants Ukraine right? We would see! And I don’t think it would fit the narrative

Do you support Russia invading all actual NATO member states on its borders? Ukraine wasn’t even NATO.
