Imagine being a woman and not being able to cook because you have a “career” that’s really just posting stuff on Facebook at a car dealership

That's kind of the "have they bitten off more than they can chew" issue.

Lots of guys (esp on here due in part to sample skewing) do lots of "women work" as well as having proper jobs. There is a large population of educated-urban women who think that they had this binary choice and since they got a "real job" they literally just can't do any of the other stuff. Then you have male partners (or options) who work AND cook AND do laundry, etc. At a certain point the guy goes "the frick?"

Why would that guy want to take the financial and emotional risk of marriage and children with THAT sort of woman? That's where the stereotype/meme developed.

I think a lot of it has to do with the "have it all" feminism women are preached when younger. It turns out that it's not reality for 99% of women. Women in high-earning careers will never have the time to maintain that career and have a family/children if they want to remain in those careers. If you're a woman, is your mid-manager career a worthy prize in place of marriage children? You'll have less money to spend on that nice hand bag, or a few less vacations. Life will be less Instagram worthy, but you might have a more fulfilling life in your later years.

The other part is we no longer live in a world where a single-income is going to cut it for 99% of the population. If you live in a major city you simply cannot have a single-income household. I think women haven't adjusted their expectations of men to reflect the modern era, and I don't think men have adjusted theirs either.

Many millennials grew up in dual-income households, but the old gender role expectations were still largely present, but women have now moved beyond just secretary roles and are now more prevalent in all areas of career/education than ever in history.
