4 other steak houses I can personally recommend:

Gallaghers which is the best I have eaten at in NYC AND of the 4 it is the least expensive but none of these are cheap but if you were considering Peter Luger's it isn't an issue.

I agree with this. I’ve never understood the love for Luger’s. It is good, but there are just as good, if not better, steak joints that don’t involve a trek into Brooklyn (assuming that you’re staying in Manhattan).

'Trek' makes it sound like an absolute chore It's really not that bad - M train takes you straight from Midtown, West Village, etc.
