Derek carr trade value

On Friday, The Athletic’s Vic Tafur answered several questions regarding the Raiders. Many of them were focused on Derek Carr and the likelihood of a trade. According to Tafur, a trade is more likely than Carr outright being released.
“I think they can trade him. If you’re another team, Carr is like the first QB on the market, and you can work on his contract with the Raiders and Carr’s agent without worrying about competing bids raising the price on the open market. Carr would sign off because there is no guarantee what he would get on the market, and maybe the Raiders can get a third-rounder for their efforts (and some money they would potentially throw in to sweeten the deal for the other team)” wrote Tafur.

If the Sean trade is to the broncos, in this year's draft, we should ask for 1st and 3rd. If that 3rd rounder could get carr and some money back, we should do it.

“DA and I have a great relationship still to this day,” Carr said. “I still talk to him … obviously not this week … but we’ve always kept in contact. We’ve always been close.”

Im not sure Carr’s trade value is high. The Raiders have to cut him if they can’t land a trade. Other teams know this and I don’t think there will be a rush to trade for him.

I couldn't care less about Derek Carr. He's a very average player that you won't win anything with. Raiders gave that man Davante Adams and he got WORSE.

Raider should give a 6th rounder to any team wanting to take his contract

You would have to trade Thomas to avoid a cap hit. Good luck with that.

Stupid idea. Then you have to give Carr a big contract along with giving up draft capital. Once it fails you and all the other chicken littles will be saying how dumb Loomis is and he needs to be fired
Re-sign Dalton who has very similar stats at a lower rate and no picks given up

Maybe a carr/Thomas swap, somehow. This would give the raiders some really nice weapons to lure brady.

Both of these qbs have a body of work to look at, and carr has been much better 4 of the previous 5 seasons. Carr was pretty good from 2018-2021 - 2 seasons over 100 passer rating and the other 2 at 94. Perhaps he just isn't a fit for what McDaniels is doing. Perhaps he isn't a fit for what we wanna do either... that I don't know, but I don't consider carr and Dalton equals. Carr has a much better last 5 seasons.

With Allen and Carr's relationship, perhaps it would be wiser to allow him to be cut. I could see TB, indy, or even Carolina making a trade for him.

Carr was really bad last year. But he’s been a pretty good QB coming into his own the few years before that. If he had a good coaching staff, I think he would do well. I wanted him when CSP was here.
I’d trade for him if it was for a late round pick and he reworked his contract. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to do anything with this coaching staff and roster.

Pete follows Sean, and we bring in Carr's OC from 2018-2021, Greg Olson. Doubtful, at best

DA, Pete, and Carr… feel the excitement!

Car is a middle of the road starting QB with sensitivity issues. I wouldn’t give shite up for him with the contract he has.

You could keep him on the current contract which is:
2023: base 32.9mil, workout 100k (33mil)
2024: base 41.9mil, workout 100k (42mil)
2025: base 41.9mil, workout 100k (42mil)
- 2023 salary + $7.5M of 2024 salary fully guarantees 2/15/2023 (injury guaranteed at signing)
- Full No Trade Clause
a 3rd isnt that high of a risk if you think he's the solution. You gotta rework that deal though

Spoiler alert: he’s not the solution

I don’t think there is an incentive for him to agree to be traded. Think he also has a no trade clause. He will do better hitting free agency with a load of qb needy teams out there.
And like someone said if teams know a player has to be cut, they rarely ever give up draft picks especially if they have to take on a huge cap hit like his contract calls for.
