Hitting BVI this summer, but looking ahead to 2024, maybe late March, and stumbled upon this place.
Priority is seeing the rainforest and waterfalls, but will also want to spend time on the beach and some snorkeling.
Curious about best way to get there from San Jose, how big a pita getting off the mountain to the beaches is and any alternative recommendations.
May end up splitting trip between jungle beach.

Look for a resort in Montezuma. That’s jungle, waterfall, beach paradise.

Thanks, will check it out. Any recommendations on places to stay there?

I don’t, it’s been too long since I’ve been. But, the waterfall just out of town is literally the most amazing location I’ve been to. It’s an 80’ waterfall, with a 40’ on top with a 25’ on top just stairwaying up, flocks of parrot looking birds, just amazing. You’ll find pictures, but no way they’ll do justice. Getting above the other folks and finding a comfy spot with a book yields the most sounds I’ve ever heard. If you stay in the town you can morning/evening and beat the day visitors.
Cabo Blanco is a forrest on the tip of that peninsula, the hike starts in the ‘new growth’ portion then transitions into the old growth, before spilling you out onto the most amazing desolate beach you’ll ever see. Blanco was a conservationist that they killed…so new/old sections coincide with when he was killed. Monkeys everywhere.
Mal Pais is one of the most famous surfing spots in North America, its crazy close. Beautiful eco-lodges.
Montezuma is not easy to get to, and it’s a bit bohemian, but if y’all find a nice place to stay it will be a 10/10 vacation.
