Mexico is the shithole to end all shitholes as far as foreign "destination" countries are involved. Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, etc. are all shitty and basically lawless.
This. I did a lot of Mexico travelling back in late 90's and early 2000s. It was relatively safe back then. Could take the local bus in PV and felt safe, even walking around town. We even took a taxi late at night to a strip club at an area remote of Cancun. No issues.
Nowadays you have local Cartels doing their thing. Not even Cancun is safe anymore. Granted is a beautiful country and destination but I'm not setting foot in that country ever again.

Yea, I don’t understand why Americans still go down there for vacation. I was talking to a family member who recently went down with his wife and grandkids. I’m like wtf were y’all thinking?!

That is where they had the sketchy bartenders drugging drinks and taking advantage of women.
I spent a few days in Puerto Vallarta a while back. I stayed on my resort (which really wasn't that fancy) except for one trip to play golf. It was the only time on the trip I used my credit card. About a month later, there were about $2000 worth of charges on it from Costco in Mexico. Shoutout to Citi for cancelling the charges and not making me pay it and not making me jump through a million hoops to get it taken care of. But frick that country and all the sketchy shite that goes on there.

Puerto Vallarta
PV is awesome. At least when I sent a couple years ago. I think it’s the safest tourist destination in Mexico. Acapulco, not so much. Didn’t think it was a big tourist spot anymore. Cartels run the show there.
