I’ll be honest, I’m not sure I could resist the urge to reach up and pet her once.
100% I'm going to pet her. They're pretty docile for a wild animal and the last thing on her mind is exorting energy to fight.

Cheetah is fast as frick but has no endurance.
If you can get any separation from them, such as by using obstacles, they may tire out.

You don't think they would be a little defensive because they are pregnant? (I have no idea...just wondering)

Personally, I blame the deadbeat dad for not working to provide adequate shelter for his growing family. This is really a problem for the cheetah community.

Good luck.

I know my slow arse ain’t outrunning one. Pointing out it is possible depending on how fast one gets winded.

Cheetahs aren't really known to be aggressive. They are pretty chill. I think it's cool that they keep dogs with them at the Zoo because for some reason Cheetahs like living with dogs.
San Diego zoo has dogs in with the cheetahs.
Watched a show about this. They've being doing this since the 1980's. Cheetah's are anxious creatures and having a dog with them helps them with confidence and sociability. It also helps them maintain healthy routines and keeps them from getting depressed. The'll bond with one particular dog and they'll be buds for life.
If for some reason, the dog dies, they are usually not able to get the Cheetah to bond with another dog. Usually though, the traits that the Cheetah learned from the dog will stick with it.
