The way this works is the Saints have a perceived value in mind and that’s the bottom line. That’s in no way saying they won’t get more or ask for more. But it will take a mid to late rounder at the very least, they aren’t taking less. When teams call and ask for permission to talk to Payton the conversation starts with “here’s the asking price, don’t bother talking to him if you aren’t going to offer.”
