I run a golden rod in my garage safe. I just shut the chord in the safe door and it hasn’t crimped or cut it. Works great

I use one that plugs in. Our safe is at the camp and I plug it in on weekends while we’re hunting and then put it back in the safe when we leave. Been using it for 7-8 years with no problems.

There should be a knockout on the back wall

I use a Goldenrod inside the safe and also put one of the cheap DampRid tubs from Walmart inside. Get the biggest Goldenrod you can fit.
This is the exact setup I’ve had in my two 64 gun safes both located in my garage. I’ve never had any issues. There is a small knockout hole usually in the back, you can drill it out if it isn’t wide enough. I watched a YouTube video on just buying a surge protector and cutting off the plug, guiding it through the hole and putting a new plug on. It allowed me more outlets for lights, etc. I’ve made my own outlet with a cord, but the surge was the easier way to go.
