Haven’t followed completely. Why the need for a neutral site conference championship?

The game was canceled… but why the need for a neutral site conference championship? Why wouldn’t the higher seed host like normal?

Why even have a conference championship anymore?
With playoff expansion, it’s pointless for many teams, and outright dangerous.
The regular season can determine the winner of the conference.

Because the Bills Bengals game had heavy implications for 1-3 seeds and thus who would have Home Field if those 3 teams play in the Playoffs.
