Nice beach resort but probably warm by May. If you want to see pharaonic Egypt on the Nile you can take a bus day trip to Luxor.

Interested to hear your plans for Lebanon?

Wife going to visit her family, who are Lebanese.
Most likely will eat out at many restaurants, explore different cities like Byblos, Sidon, Tyre.
See ancient ruins, visit the cedar forests, Jeita Grotto, temples of Baalabeck, Phoenician ruins, beaches etc..
So cheap there now with inflation at almost 1000%. $ is king in lebanon.

Good to know that we still might be able to visit the pyramids since wife wanted Cairo for that reason.

Buddy of mine dives there, says its some of the best diving in the world.
Watch out for the Chinese hookers.

I was there this past July. It’s HOT! The sea is absolutely beautiful, snorkeling and diving are amazing. It wasn’t my favorite area of Egypt but for an all inclusive resort visit it was super nice.

Cairo has the most amazing artifact-laden museum on the planet

Please tell us you are hitting Petra in between.
It should be an easy hop from Lebanon to Amman/Eilat and on to Sharm El Sheikh. A tour from J'lem is probably not tenable for us mature adults (get on the bus at 0330, get delivered back to your hotel 20 hours later). There are plenty of flights from TLV to Eilat, but I don't know if you're allowed to fly directly from Lebanon to TLV to go to Eilat, so you'd probably have to hit Amman anyway.
Try Turkish, wherever you are going in the Middle East. Planes aren't super up to date, but my G-d, the food and booze is amazing. I greatly prefer a 2 hour flight from IST to TLV rather than a 4 hour flight from FRA, too. I may have to hit Riyadh soon, and if I go, I'm going Turkish if I'm going anywhere outside of northern Europe or Asia.
Understatement of the century. Jerusalem and Tel Aviv were ovens during the summer, and no wind in the valleys/draws; the pit that the old city sits in is bad, but FFS, Tel Aviv *on the coast* was worse, and I'm not sure how.

I've heard, but not verified, that the ruins in Libya are better preserved due to constant Roman/Italian rule.
Sophie's choice, do you fly Egypt Air to get to Libya, or Al Italia? Or ferry?

I Don’t know the answer to your airline question

Depends on where flying from, but barring a truly terrible airline (like Gulf Air), I always opt for whoever gets me there nonstop, From Jordan you may have Royal Jordanian. Turkish through IST is a bit more circuitous, but probably the most reliable of the bunch. I’d avoid the reincarnation of Alitalia, ITA… same pig, new lipstick.
