One thing I hated about Saban when he was at LSU is at the end of each season, during recruiting, the rumors started to swirl about Saban leaving for the pros..........and he flirted every year with one or two before the Dolphins.

Bama fans don't fear the possibility of him leaving, but maybe they should. That's according to some sport's radio jocks over here in Alabama. They worry a little about Penn State when Joe Pa leaves, but their big worry is Our Lady (Notre Dame) if and when Charlie Wiese gets the boot.

Here's their reasoning:

1. Bama may think they are the be all and end all to college football, but deep down they even know that place belongs to Notre Dame. As these sport's radio jocks said, love them or hate them just like the Dallas Cowboys are America's Team so is Notre Dame College Football's America's Team. It is the pinnacle job in college football and would be attractive to a guy like Saban.

2. With the big NBC contract they have the $$$$ to give Saban whatever he demands in salary and facilities.

3. It opens up the whole nation to recruiting, something that would really appeal to Saban.

4. The guys say the Notre Dame fan base is more in keeping with Saban's personality. (They were trying to be nice to their Bama listeners. Translation is Saban rather not fool with all these gumps and rednecks. Rumor also has it that he, and especially Terry, are not real happy living in Tuscalooosa.....oh, I'm shocked)

5. Saban is Catholic. Maybe the Pope gives him a call.

If this happened this would absolutely crush the Bama Nation. Like lemmings they would commit mass suicide by marching into the Gulf at Orange Beach. They hate Notre Dame. The only school with more "legitimate" NC's then Bama, and the only school to have a winning record over the Bear. Not to mention the Bama Bible Belts hatred for all things Catholic. Wonder if Saban has to wear a disguise to go to Mass.

Oh well, let the rumors begin.

that may have been the case back when they were the only team getting their games televised.

but these days it will be a lot easier to recruit kids to warm climates and a great conference that gets tons of games televised.

coaching rumors at the end of seasons tend to have one thing in common...Jimmy Sexton

one thing Bama fans won't have to worry about is pro rumors. I think the pros are over Nick, and probably most other college coaches for a while.

ND has an outside shot of anyone. I don't believe Weiss can get it done. Saban turned them down while at LSU but was quoted regarding what a tempting offer it is; something about it 'being the dream of every little catholic boy to coach/play at ND'.

Well you don't have to worry about that anymore. No teams are going to try to hire our present coach.

Oh don't worry I am definitely over it. Would just be fun to watch Bama burn down over his departure if it were to happen.

He'd be struck dead by lightning if he even got within a block of their cathedral.

With their coaching hires lately it doesn't seem winning is a big deal there anymore.

Old song and not even a new verse!

Saban may at sometime leave all coaches do.

If he does, I wish him the best but for now, he is here.

The ND job would have better recruiting than in Alabama, he will have to work hard to match what they get naturally but I think he likes to recruit. The results are cannot be dismissed from his days in LSU to what he has done here.

I have to admit having governor call Julio Jones the night before signing day when he was going to choose FSU was a neat trick.

Here is the difference between BAMA fans and y'all. When he leaves BAMA we will be grateful for his time here and what he did for our program. All good things must come to an end sooner or later. Saban will NOT leave until he get's a big 9 foot tall bronze statue outside Bryant Denny though. They put them up for coaches who have won a national championship.

Fairhopetiger...it could happen. By the way we stayed at the Marriot in Fairhope on our way back from S.C. this summer. Man, you folks have a nice slice of live going on there. Family had a great time..hooked up with an scratch 'aubie' grad on the course..spent a day with my oldest (6) son at Orange Beach..man, it was sweet.
