Cremation and placement in a columbarium is a good option. Less expensive than burial, and there is a physical marker and place for loved ones to visit if they want. We have some family in one.
Findagrave is a great app/site for researching your family tree. (PC version shows more info than phone app.) They log cemeteries and often link to the deceased”s relatives. I found relatives that I didn’t know anything about. If ashes are scattered, with no physical marker, the deceased is out of that system and can be somewhat lost to history.
