Steel Rising is on sale…looks interesting. Anyone played it?

Critics slam it for some reason, but from what I see on the fan reviews it’s pretty good for what its worth?
It’s a souls game set in late 1700s France in a sort of steampunk genre. From what it looks like to me the fan reviews are viewing it more from the angle of just their experience with the game instead of comparing it to other games? It’s weird. Anyway, if anyone has played it, what do you think? Always been a fan of the aesthetic but the official reviews say that’s really the extent of what it offers to the player and not much else.

Platinum'd it a couple of weeks ago. Solid game with a cool setting, great art design, solid mechanics. a little janky and buggy though

I got as part of Christmas sales. I think it's an ideal game to get on sale.
