Coaches will play the guy they think is best. Not only does it make the team better, It’s in their self interest to do. Didn’t we have a former walk on starting at running back.

This 110% isn’t correct to an extent

Coaches always have a fleeting thought in the back of their head when they have a high recruit “It’s going to click. It will turn on. He has so much potential”

Are there times the walk on or underdog breaks through? Of course. But coaches are human. They have bias like anyone else
