It's all illegal immigrants that do that. No need the time off.
Farmers don't like hiring Americans

Cant hire any Americans for $100 a day. That doesnt compete with welfare benefits

Even at $20/hour doubt they could hire any Americans

30-40 years ago it was all poor white and black Americans in the field but they figured out they can make more sitting on their arse than working in fields all day

Maybe like 2% are illegal and they ain't driving the trucks

If they are driving a truck they probably work for the sugar mill and are H2B workers and get paid almost $20/hour

Farm workers are H2A and get paid $13.67 plus housing and a vehicle in LA in 2023

Go look in the paper and on job finding platforms and you will see as mandated by the gov ads asking for Americans to come work these jobs at the same pay and then go ask farmers how many inquires they get

That’s not true. It’s more that most Americans are too fat and lazy and unwilling to do farm work for what it pays

Legal guest workers because it is in between their two harvest per year in Central America. Farmers and mill owners cannot find willing workers here.

This is 100% BS. Due to Govt handouts, it’s more lucrative to stay at home and collect subsidence rather than work for a living. The problem is now it’s spread to ALL segments of unskilled labor, not just agriculture

With advances in farm tech, most employees are seasonal. They are legal, do the work and move on.
Locals don’t need the check anymore.
They get it elsewhere. IYKWIM
