Every time I listen to it.

This includes Jason Bonham with Heart's version (live).

Discuss.

The production of that song is pretty amazing. Also, classic Led Zeppelin with the mandolin and Robert Plant vocals. Also, the song before Stairway to Heaven on IV.

1) Great song!

2) But been there done that (way too many times) and can't fathom being so stuck in time. Kinda reminds me of my Nana who always drug her chair real close when Lawrence Welk came on the air.

3) Why does this one so stick out to you?

So you don't listen to anything that you listened to a lot when you were younger?

I don't usually post ancient history.

Like previous said great song.

Mandolin my GOD what an instrument, didn't know much about it, know a lot more now. Harmonies. they did good; killer for their day. However these day's I like my male singers to not stay in falsetto. Because I'm listening for sing it like you mean it or don't sing it all. From deep down and not high lonesome at all. As for the mythology, story, tale pretty cool didn't know much then and they got my attention. However people singing about conditions, joys, and woes is gonna grab me more today... than primordial child hood angst once did.

It's kinda of like Boston, everyone was in into them by word of mouth (pre-social media), until now I'll listen to 30-40's seconds and usually have enough. Same with Led Zep'.

You think Led Zeppelin's Battle of Evermore is primordial childhood angst?

Well not clinical childhood angst.

More of the garden variety Trilogy, Hogwarts, and Walking Dead. So some medival, some farther back, and the rest just throwing something on the wall to see that sticks.

And yep - Lot's of theirs stuck - In a good way.

You think Tolkien was writing about childhood angst?

What does Walking Dead have to do with either Battle of Evermore or childhood angst?

... I am with you on this, and Zeppelin is not in my top 5 bands. Fantastic song. Sandy Denny and Robert Plants voices are the lead instruments in the song, with the mandolin driving the sung upward. A duet telling an epic story from a classic novel. Perfection...

I thought Plant and Alison Krauss did a pretty good job with this song on their tour this past summer. They sound pretty good together
