We don’t put enough stress on the defense when they drop and Daniels never gets comfortable finding the soft spots. Daniels needs to get better throwing on the run to help with this. Rolling him out and flooding zones with routes would be a great way to make him more effective when defenses play drop coverage. It forces defenders in the stressed zones to think and have to read multiple guys, creating opening. It also gives Daniels a better opportunity to run vs a zone. We don’t run this nearly enough.

One positive- not every team is able to play drop coverage well. Most college teams don’t play a ton of zone, so they often don’t execute it that well. Remember the beginning of the Georgia game? They went away from drop coverage after two drives of us moving the ball with little trouble. Arnett at State refuses to play anything but aggressive man. Odom was the best at drop zone because that’s his base D, but he’s gone now.

Nice.
