My daughter's school doesn't prohibit possession of them but they don't let the kids use them in class. The first time you are caught they take it and the parent has to go to the school and sign for the kid to get it back. The 2nd time they take it for the rest of the school year.

The rest of the school year? That is not a battle most schools would be willing to fight

Seems my granddaughter isn't allowed to use a phone in class, but she has an Apple watch, which she uses.

Say what? They keep it and don’t give you your personal property? I understand about having an emergency and being able to contact the school, but if I have a kid driving to school they are going to have a cell phone. And nobody is taking it for the rest of the year.

Ya that's theft. You can go get it back that evening just have to use a little legal talk to scare them. Seen ppl talk about it before and how they got it back, some were smother but one threatened to call the cops for theft.

Edit: no problem with them taking if for the day if they were using it when not supposed to. Anything longer I have a problem with.
