I think that has more to deal with the odd fanbase and "traditions". They worship and cult following for dudes wearing bedazzled overalls and chants, squeezing each other nuts and calling it tradition. Look at ring day ceremonies. Many from A&M consider it the greatest day of their lives, grown men crying for weeks because losing an aggie ring. Many believe that ring gets them whatever job they want.

Its downright scary fanbase.

Believe it or not there is still a large portion of this country that is uncomfortable watching two men fondle themselves in public
