There are several "rut" periods as some people will see scraping and bucks moving several different times during the season. The younger bucks start scraping really early, and you start to see the bachelor parties of bucks hanging out together around that time and as they start beating each other up. Does come into season at different times, and has nothing to do with the temperature and more to do with the moon phase and month. The older bucks will be pretty nocturnal till the actual time to start breeding.
