I hear they have a pretty outstanding fireworks show. Any tips on places to check out or pointers on where to go to get the best view of the firework show. ? Any info appreciated. TIA.

My wife was in London for NYE in 2002 or 2003 during her year of study abroad.

I think she and her friends were down around Parliament Square to hear Big Ben chime. Not sure what the view of the fireworks were like from there (although if they are going off behind Big Ben that would be an awesome sight).

I'll try to remember to ask and report back.

Up the road in Scotland, NYE is called Hogmanay. It is a huge deal. They sell tickets to access downtown Edinburgh, and have concerts, fireworks, etc. for three days. LINK If you drive up, buy gas and all needed supplies before NYD. We had hell finding even a gas station open on NYD.

Sorry I didn't respond last night, but the wife said they could see the fireworks really well from down by Parliament Square because the fireworks were over Big Ben/Houses of Parliament.

I was there for New Years - but 1996/1997

So it’s been a while - but our group rented a boat on the Thames and watched the fireworks - it was awesome - anywhere along the Thames is probably good

Maybe the shard is open to observe for nye, too

Boat rental on the Thames sounds awesome. I’m gonna look into that.
