I am so confused by call of duty now

Damn I used to be up on the gaming situation, but not so much anymore. I bought modern warfare 2 thinking I had the latest and greatest thing, next thing I know I have Warzone 2 and DMZ on my Xbox. I was learning how to play MW2 and now it seems most want to play Warzone. I am so confused by the approach here, are these three different COD games? Why are they presented on the same menu screen? What is DMZ? Did I buy three games? What’s with the different release dates and shite? Seems like Warzone 2.0 is being pushed for me to try and purchase stuff but frick all I want to do is play MW2 and have fun with that. I know it’s not the olden days but what happened to a new cod game each November and that was the thing to play for a while? I find the platform now and all the shite they push to be overwhelming. Is this all because of fortnite?

i guess you never heard of the original warzone mode that came out 3 years ago with Modern Warfare (2019).

Modern Warfare 2 (pay to play) includes:
Campaign
Standard Multiplayer (TDM, Dom, Hardpoint, SnD, etc.)
Co-op
Warzone 2.0 (free to play) includes:
Battle Royale - last to survive wins
DMZ - Looter/Extraction Mode (if you extract, i guess you "win").
Utilizes Modern Warfare 2 weapons and ranking system.
none of this is difficult to understand. and you don't need Modern Warfare 2 to play the Warzone 2.0 modes.

Really just three different game modes but they all use the same assets so they're loaded together

Probably. Free battle royales with skin stores have become insanely profitable for gaming companies. It's watered down the industry, but in their defense, this is some of the best co-op in gaming history, especially warzone 2.0. I say this as someone that gets annoyed that every new shooter has to have a BR mode.

I know what you are asking. The UI is horrible. You have to scroll down one section and hit MW2 (not Warzone or DMZ). It will then open the menu you were used to seeing. I hate it too. I don't play warzone and wish the menu was the other way. MW2 by default. On PS5 and PC, you can uninstall Warzone...can Xbox do that?
ETA: Oh, and don't mind finch. He is territorial about his COD thread.

I believe so. On my xbox, I deleted everything except warzone. Thank god because the game (which I do not own) took up so much space.

honestly have no desire right now to play WZ2. The constant bullshite from the last one burned me out on BRs. I love DMZ right now but I do hope they add more to the game. I want to see a hideout that you can upgrade just like Tarkov.
There are so many items in game that are fricking worthless right now and it would give reasons to pick them up.
