All of that is fine and perfectly reasonable to support that. But just acknowledge it will render other games essentially meaningless, like this week’s Ohio St Michigan game.
As far getting a bye teams that win CCG will play the same amount of games. If you were Bama last year would you rather play an extra game were J Williamson got hurt to earn a bye or play a home game against someone like BYU or Michigan St

Seeding and who gets a bye and who wins the conference aren't meaningless. That is the problem is being one of the 4 is all that matters. Conference championships and other bowl games are pointless. None of the talking heads talk about anything else.

Ohio State still has a pretty good chance of getting to the playoff. If you think that makes Saturday any less meaningful, you don't understand the rivalry at all. People are calling for Day's job because of that loss and the dude is 45-5.
You could tell us we're in at 0-12, and The Game wouldn't be close to meaningless.
