re: Why is Michigan/Ohio State always so early?

The Big Noon thing was actually pretty smart in hindsight. Most people are home around lunch on Saturday and tend to go out and have other things going on Saturday evening/night. Plus it’s usually the only good game on. ESPN usually has some shitty game with Beth Mowins calling it. They can dominate the time slot.

night game in late November in ohio is a bad idea. game starts in full daylight and ends in daylight.
last year in Michigan it snowed during the game.

It's actually a good thing. No reason to go against the Iron Bowl or other rivalry games. I bet the SEC is fine with Ohio State/Michigan game being at Noon. It's not about who would win the ratings. It's about getting the most viewers for both games.

Holy frick noon may seem like 4 am if you’re an alcoholic drunktard but it’s really not that early to most of the world. Why do you think your preference is better for the rest of the world?
We would do Kegs and Eggs for this game, wake up about 4 am and go to the bar, post game rest up for a couple hours and go back out. Never was an issue and was fun. Again, southerners and their ignorance of the Big 10. Good times.

Every one of our tailgates starts at 6 am. Noon, 3:30 or 8 pm game. It doesn’t matter.

The networks compete for ratings by having different conferences. SEC/ESPn gets early afternoons and nights. Fox has the rights to big so the time slot for the best views is at noon. It’s not some crazy concept

Paterno did not want to play in front of a stadium full of drunks. Call it what you want.

Because the game usually sucks and you want it over early.

It’s 50 degrees. That’s not cold

They can’t afford all of the electricity costs associated with lights. All of their jobs left for Mexico.

At mid day. It’ll be cold tonight.

I don't think Michigan had permanent lights until around 2010 or so
The first night game in the Big House was that ND game where the final 2 minutes or so was some of the wildest stuff I've ever seen. Denard Robinson was the hero that night, whichever year that game was.
I remember they kept talking about how it was the first night game there the whole week leading up to it
